Firmware 26490700. For calibration our temperature sensors, I can only advice to get the very best temperature probe/measuring instrument you can afford. No lightlevel/lux readings from Hue motion sensor. It's quite bulky too. The Hue Motion sensor's integrated daylight sensor detects when there is still enough daylight so that lights do not turn on until you need them. When I was in the restaurant industry, we used to do this weekly to calibrate our probes. Also, compared to the indoor motion sensor, this device doesn't seem to have any temperature sensor. I have added a Hue motion sensor to my Conbee 2 and it works well except the temperature and light level. to get the real calibrated temperature. We’ll occasionally send you account related emails. Buy a Hue bridge, which I normally would absolutely not need, and do a firmware update from on the indoor Sensor from Vers. I have been able to write the correct values to these settings and they are retained if I go back and check again. Was kind of difficult even with technical background. Took a day though, haha. same thing here. It definitily needed removing after adding to 2.05.52, but indeed it seems to need some time after adding it to the current deCONZ version... deCONZ checks periodically whether the reporting is working, re-applying the configuration if it isn't. Edit2: Think I figured it out. https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin/wiki/Update-deCONZ-manually#update-in-raspbian. I have tried removing the sensor, resetting it and re-adding it using Phoscon and it comes back in exactly the same state. And in 4, you need to copy ../libstd_otau_plugin.so. You can correct this manually in the GUI. Two of them working great. One former question now came back into my mind. If you don’t want to wait, you can compile the plugin yourself (just like the REST API plugin). While the Hue Motion does not have this feature, it does have some significant competition as it actually contains three sensors in one. Writing 0x0030 fails. I don’t think that one of them is broken. Second, there isn't "a" temperature in any room in your house. I've got another 3 Hue motions sensors which are currently linked to a Hue bridge. I suppose re-pairing them will resolve the issue but this does get a bit tiring having to do it every time. The temperature should be EXACTLY 0°C on your probe, Then put a pan of water for boiling and boil away. Before I connected them to deCONZ I paired them all to a Hue Bridge to do FW updates. With the release of a whole range of different Hue outdoor bulbs, lights and fittings it makes sense for an outdoor sensor to be released, how different it will be to the indoor one we don’t know, but by the looks of it, instead of redesigning and realising a new motion sensor that can be used indoors and outdoors, it is going to release one septically for outdoor use. You can definitely see it in the Home app for iPhone/iPad etc. The Hue motion sensors are certainly the least stable device types I have. Also, compared to the indoor motion sensor, this device doesn't seem to have any temperature sensor. I am experiencing the same for all of my Philips Hue Motion Sensors. With *.sbl-ota the plugin doesn't discover the file in general. The Hue motion sensor does pair with HE with it's own built-in driver. I have another two on 6.1.1.27575 which I need to migrate over to deCONZ that have only ever been attached to the Hue bridge, I'll see what happens with those and update the ticket. He added the device originally using deCONZ 2.05.52. The Formula allows you to set two alerting scenes when the temperature in the baby’s room is above or below the thresholds. Home Assistant tells me it's via the bridge even if I did nothing to integrate the bridge. One of the great thing about the Philips Hue system are the switches that you can set up with the system toking over your old light switch, however what about sensors, we review the Hue Motion Sensor that will take your home lighting to a whole new level. you also wrote above. I ended up pairing that with the Hue bridge and updating to latest firmware. Hi, I already intalled 3 huemotion sensors. Though it may work for most of us, it isn´t quite enough for a real calibration…. Seems like the restart deCONZ thing seems to kick the light sensor into life so at least there's a workaround. Maybe I'll just need to wait a bit and see if it works itself out after some time. It works very well. 1. It's a shame, but I can't really recommend this motion sensor. For example, SmartThings sensors can be used to trigger Amazon Alexa routines, expanding what’s available there, and Philips Hue motion sensors can be used in Apple HomeKit Automations to do more there. The Good Hue's Outdoor Sensor works with Apple HomeKit, and it's actually three sensors in one -- motion, temperature and ambient light. That doesn’t need motion. Seems like the restart deCONZ thing seems to kick the light sensor into life so at least there's a workaround. I had to go the GUI and press Read on the Illuminance Measurement and Temperature Measurement cluster. You signed in with another tab or window. Neither ice water or boild water can do this. Cruical as these sensore are: Before I started the update activities, the sensor suddenly reads the illumination by pressing the 'read' button in the cluster mask. I saw this same issue with one of my users. Get one of these: In 2, you need to cd deconz-ota-plugin. I have the same issue. The sensor has started reporting light levels since about an hour ago: boild water dont always reach 100 degree celcius. OK, i did the ConBee firmware update, which was a bit tricky, but in the end worked. This comment pointed me to right direction: Presumably there's no obvious explanation for that? For temperature I used the Reporting Setting 10, 300, 20 as used by the SML001 internal Hue Motion sensors and wrote it to the device. Left them for a while to see if they came back, they didn't. I agree, I don't think it will resolve your issue. git clone https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-ota-plugin.git. I manually matched those up with the other sensor I added previously and that seemed to get the temperature reporting working. If anyone has any suggestions or can point me in the right direction to fix this then I would be really grateful. So, it's pricey, lacks functionality and is too big. Apologies for the lack of updates on this, I've been having some really annoying issues with my lights/deCONZ network and I've been fighting with them for the last couple of days. So, all in all seems my original issue with down to that version of firmware and the latest one seems fine. 6.1.0.18912 to Vers. Basically had to set up the correct config values for occupancy, illuminance measurement and I guess I do need to do temperature as well, but did not yet figure out the correct values. Another advice could be to use 2 or 3 references, and then use the average temperature as reference. thanks @vzorglub, Vincent. The Hue motion sensors are light sleepers, waking every ~5 seconds to see if their parent has saved a message for them. I don't quite remember how I setup my Pi for development (a long time ago), but I think that should be enough. Any ideas? Edit: By tapping all the checkboxes (simple descriptors did not stick even after multiple tries) I managed to get at least the manual readings working. By clicking “Sign up for GitHub”, you agree to our terms of service and Maybe I need to ask if some colleague etc. I think I may have added that second one to deCONZ when I first got it on whatever version of firmware it shipped with, noticed the light sensor wasn't working and added to Hue bridge thinking I'd mess with it when I had time. While you can use third-party motion sensors with your Philips Hue lights using various services, the Hue Motion Sensor ($40) makes it easier to turn your Hue bulbs into motion lights in your house. A little bit concerned about those 3 sensors dropping out when I took deCONZ down for a bit though :(. Thanks in advance. Afterwards I created the binding for temperature and illuminance. I'm having the same problem with a Phillips SML002 outdoor motion sensor. The reporting configuration shows 65535 only. (Btw. ;-) any ideas? 6.1.1.27575. First one I tried was on 6.1.0.18912, second one was on 6.1.1.27575. There is nothing to do than to live with it, as far as I know, or use a openhab rule to make a “software” calibration. Since all sensors are now more than 24h properly reporting, I guess the ConBee II firmware update seems having been the answer to my problems. will try this and get back with the results. For the Huw sensor i didn’t find any information. Can this be fixed? Having a look in the GUI, I could force a read from the temperature sensor and get a value back but when I read the reporting configuration back all 3 values were set to 65535. I've tried the same thing for the temperature sensor and it seems to work fine. One sensor provides zero for lightlevel and temperature. Ok, now I'm really confused. Not only do you get the motion sensor itself, but also a light intensity sensor and a temperature sensor. privacy statement. Actually, you get something back, the issue is that Measured Value is zero. Just a (sudden) change in light level might take a couple of minutes to be reported. Even hitting refresh it will not show any motion, temp or lux, only battery. Temperature reporting seemed to work with just the changes I did, so did not have to fiddle with it. right? Do you know that you can use the Philips Hue motion sensor to measure the temperature? The Hue sensor firmware update in the end became to complicated for me. We have to do it by creating our own solution. One of them is working fine as a motion, and illuminance sensor but the temperature reading is always 0 degrees. Restarting deCONZ should trigger the checking and, when needed, re-applying of the reporting configuration. do i really need a third to get a hint if one is broken? Additionally I also had some strange issue where the sensor was holding onto the presence detected state for way to long. Motion and temperature works, but illuminance returns only 0. But I only get an update for light and temperature when I manually trigger the read event for this items via cluster info. I'll try linking those with the Conbee tomorrow and see if the same thing happens. After re-pairing it to deCONZ, I see the following differences: PIR Occupied to Unoccupied Delay is still not reportable, and creating a binding from the client OnOff cluster on endpoint 0x01 to a light still doesn't do anything. I haven't seen that before. So if it doesn’t work in the end, I will install an outdoor sensor also within the house, for sure without the huge cave, within it is originally mounted . This weather-ready outdoor sensor from Philips Hue tracks motion, temperature and ambient light. Version: 2.05.69 / 9/6/2019 I attempted to bind as suggested in #340 (comment) but this doesn't work. could loan their bridge for doing the updating . The wireless design of this Philips Hue motion sensor … I'll give it a while longer and see if that makes reporting kick in. Restarting Conbee/phoscon or re-adding the sensor doesn't bring the illuminance to life. I just got the Hue motion sensor yesterday and this has been driving me nuts. When you have done this you have a calibrated probe. Hi, thanks all for working this out. March 11, 2019 / Software version: 6.1.1.27575. I missed the aspect to do the update via STD OTAU, that I will test then in addition later on... Water can boild at 92 to 98 degree celcius. Ok thanks again. If you google it, you´ll notice quite a few topics about the motion sensor beeing 2 degrees celsius wrong. If you cant change the offset, then you´ll only be able to notice the differences between your bowl of water with ice, and the measuring. You need to clone the entire library into a new directory and compile that. I will update here soon ... $ sudo apt-get deconz-dev (as you wrote) Is there maybe a fix for that? Make sure to get one which has been calibrated close to the range you´re suppose to use it. This got me the correct values once but they still do not update automatically. Stopping deCONZ before was clear for me . I currently use Apple HomeKit which allows Philips hue motion sensor to show room temperature and give motion notifications. I also have the same problems with me outdoor sensor, the sensor provides zero for lightlevel and temperature. He took himself the longest time to re-connect, after the stick forgot about the entire network, but after some hours he came back by himself and restarts reporting. PS. So this is infact not such a good idea to use boilded water. I think I'd be fine for a while with even the motion sensing working, but can't get even that functioning. They are normally quite accurate and can be used for this type of electronic calibration, omg ofc youre right, it shouldnt be hard to get a officially calibrated thermometer somewhere. Yep. This is the second motion sensor I've tried now and they've both had the same issue. The text was updated successfully, but these errors were encountered: Sounds like attribute reporting hasn't been setup. package not findable, ...hmhm read a bit further and now asking myself if I might have first to update my deCONZ firmware ...? I however had a similar issue with one of them, but after 1-2h temperature and light level readings where there. The sensor has been tested to work in rain and at temperatures between -20 degrees Celsius (-4 Fahrenheit) to 55 degrees Celsius (131 Fahrenheit). I wonder if we’ll be able to get the 0x01 endpoint to work with the new firmware, binding the sensor directly to (a group of) lights. If it is not, please re-open or create another issue! thanks @cweitkamp, that could be a way to go - then i would need a device (a third sensor, but which?!) reading packages You need to add the deCONZ apt library to your system, as described in Install deCONZ. In the industry sector, calibration would probably be using a smaller range than 0 - 100 degree celcius. Again with this sensor all three configuration variables were set to 65535. The Hue indoor sensor seems only be able to measure up to 14444lux, whereas the others are showing realistic values with more than 70.000lux in pure sunshine. Always remember to let the reference instrument settle every time if has been moved from one location to another (one room to another). Note that the sensor only reports changes in illumination periodically and when it also detects motion. ...this finally fixed it for me. I also tried resetting the device with no luck I noticed that the red light that usually lights up when motion is detected is also not lighting up. This is probably good enough for blind, curtain, and light control, even during a day-time thunderstorm or solar eclipse, but I must admit that I still haven’t tested the latter case. then i would need a device (a third sensor, but which?! It was detected quickly and also picked up by Home Assistant. Then I told him to remove the device from deCONZ and then rescan, still the same issue occured, but then after some time all of the sudden reporting started working. If you change reference, you´ll need to start all over calibrating all sensors again. The "delay" attribute in the REST API was set to like 122 where as on the other sensor it was 0. In this tutorial I’m using the Hue Motion Sensor, which I find to be very reliable, with a fast response time. It should be included in the next version of deCONZ. Max Measured Value is read-only. As I mentioned before, if you do receive updates for motion and temperature, most likely the binding and/or attribute reporting for illumination haven't been setup. My SML001 indoor Hue motion sensors report 65534 for that. The Samsung SmartThings Motion Sensor stands out among the few Alexa-compatible sensors because its long range ... Hue Smart Hub. Bluetooth range is more limited – Link Labs (which I mentioned earlier) also tested Bluetooth LE, finding a 77m range outdoors (compared to 291m with ZigBee). How the bridge could get a measurement the Conbee cannot ? Deconz is on the latest firmware from Dec 2019. Most human would be dead reaching outside this range, and by then, there is no need to measure at all. The same with the boilded water. In the industry sector, calibration would probably be using a smaller range than 0 - 100 degree celcius. I a bowl full of water AND ice, wait 1/2 hour for temperature to settle. A Read Attributes should normally work, but sometimes the message to the Sensor is lost (the parent only keeps it for ~7 seconds). Sign up for a free GitHub account to open an issue and contact its maintainers and the community. And sudo apt update followed by sudo apt install -f? He has been rescanning and re-adding while keeping the device awake and it would not report temperatures in this case. Not sure if it was because of using the Home Assistant Deconz add-on though. The Hue Outdoor Sensor is the first outdoor HomeKit sensor, and adds motion, temperature, and light sensors to automate the outside of your Apple-centric smart home. The Hue bridge seems to cache the last reported value from the sensor and those are what get displayed in HomeKit. Also manually reading the configs or attributes fail on Deconz GUI. In case you only need a sensor that detects motions for a shorter distance, a good option is one with a shorter range and narrower field of view. The ceiling can easily be 2-3 degrees warmer than the floor. It turns on the light when you enter a room and shuts it off when no motion is detected to keep your energy bills down. That still puzzles me. I know for sure last time I tried linking one of them it didn't seem to report light levels, maybe I just didn't leave it long enough. You have to have at least one reference to measure your offset from. Thanks for your reply! The blue lights also blink on the sensor when I'm initiating a read, but the read's always fail after about a minute. One of the best options for a motion sensor is to use it to trigger lights to turn on or off automatically. It seems that the sensor is not updating the values by its own. All three will be available in HomeKit once the device is setup in the Hue … Motion sensor is running firmware 6.1.0.18912. The light levels were doing this same thing as previously, reading a 0 value even with a forced read. Ahh, so the first step/command here: For me, at first it seems to work at least on the motion detection side, but then after a minute or so it's no longer reporting any values. light and temperature values. Kinda odd that it would happen independently for two sensors, though. See https://developers.meethue.com/develop/hue-api/supported-devices/#supportred-sensors, section 2.7 for the relationship between lightlevel and lux. I have set up a Conbee II stick this afternoon, new out of the box and I am having similar problems with a Philips motion sensor as described in this issue. When the water is really boiling hard, the probe should show 100°C. For temperature I used the Reporting Setting 10, 300, 20 as used by the SML001 internal Hue Motion sensors and wrote it to the device. So, let me show you a very simple way to get the motion sensor to work harder for you. Ie, if you need temperature about human body (37 degree celcius) you would probably calibrate somewhere between min/max, like 25 - 45 degree celcius. Afterwards I created the binding for temperature … The Philips Hue Outdoor Sensor allows you to add motion control to any Hue light, boosting safety and security with a welcoming ambience on your return home. Ok, but I‘m wondering, as mine shows up to 14444lux, also in the Phoscon App, so not only in my Pimatic house automatization. I have two Hue Motion sensors which does not work as intended. Article updated in October: HomeKit support has now been added to the Hue Motion Sensor. Can someone provide the reporting values for the temperature measurement? The reporting configuration and binding table are lost when factory-resetting the device (which you need to do to re-connect the device to deCONZ, after updating its firmware on the Hue bridge). returns: I don't seem to be able to get any readings for lightlevel or lux from Hue motion sensors connected to a Conbee2 gateway. The version of the Hue motion sensor is 6.1.0.18912, so I guess there is a newer one available but unfortunately I already sold my Hue bridge, so I cannot update it. I had to take it down today and I've ended up with 3 out of the 4 of them stuck in a state where the deconz GUI appears to show them not connected to the network, they don't generate events and none of the attributes update. Food temperature probe, Then calibrate On the box it says the range is 12 meters for detecting motion. Any other ideas how to kick that in? What Makes the Hue Motion Sensor Better than Other Motion Sensors. That only works when the sensor detects motion. Question to installation: is this „std_otau_plugin.cpp“ the right file to install/compile? The sensor reports back Status 0x88 (read only). I left this alone for almost 24 hours to see if the issue would resolve without intervention but it didn't. If I connect them to the Hue bridge the light level works fine. Philips Hue Outdoor Motion Sensor range In the above video I do a test of the range, you can either watch it or read about it below. Sorry for the double-commenting, I deleted now. Neither the temperature nor the light levels were being shown. Or is it simple like: $ sudo apt-get qmake (?). It's a shame, but I can't really recommend this motion sensor. All the lights, switches and Xiaomi sensors and stuff came back fine, just 3 of the Hue motion sensors, two on the latest firmware and that one on the slightly older one. You should check what the tolerances are. Updated one of my motion sensors to 6.1.1.27575 through the Hue bridge. @Mimiix could you please reopen this issue? I do see the green link between the motion sensor and a lamp, which connects to ConBee II. How to create a temperature … So but now first the test on my test PI. Indoors the situation is expectedly worse, with Hue’s own product announcements from 2019 saying that you can expect a 30 foot (9.1m) indoor range. For the fibaror i found the information that it has a tolerance og 0,5° in the range from 0° to 40°. That is possible with the help of the HTTP binding and the JavaScript transformation(JsonPath transformation is possible too but imho not flexible enough because it is not possible to modify the data immediately if we have/want to). When I brought it back, three of the motion sensors weren't working at all, no updates, reads were failing from the deCONZ GUI. Maybe the device disables the hardware light level sensor when no attribute reporting (or supporting binding) has been configured for it? Firmware: 26330500. The motion/presence detection is working perfectly but both the lux level and temperature sensors stay at zero. At temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius (86 Fahrenheit), the performance of the sensor may be reduced. @jensflorian As OP's issue is resolved, this issue is closed. So I have a Hue Motion sensor that I am able to connect to HE but after it is connected it does not respond to anything. Philips Hue Motion Sensor Notification and Temperature 0 Recommended Answers 1 Reply 93 Upvotes. I am running firmware 6.1.1.27575 on all of them. No this issue is not resolved. With respect to the configuration I already un-binded and binded the illumination cluster, which didn‘t help. oh, nice tip - i have a food probe for my grill. Fix for light level sensor issue observed by some users. If this tolerance is ± 1° your 2° are in range. I followed the instructions in this post here (once I had got my head around the Deconz GUI). Already on GitHub? deCONZ sets up the sensor to report periodically every 5 minutes, same as the Hue bridge. I've tried to remove and setup the sensor a bunch of times. He doesn’t need a motion detected for that. Should I open this as a separate issue? out of interest i checked the temperatures, to see if they measure (almost) the same - but i have a difference of 2° Celsius. It would not add as this old version did not yet support the uotside sensors. When motions is detected it turns on and when no motions it turns off, in my case after 1 minute. I´ve just bought the sensor and the motion part is working properly. Besides that, I'm currently struggeling with the update. Hi, Currently it’s not possible to retrieve data from Hue Motion Sensors or Hue Dimmer Switches from the Philips Hue binding (see https://github.com/eclipse/smarthome/issues/2603). Philips sensor is on firmware version 6.1.0.25261 and the Conbee II is on version 2.05.77. Reset the one on the older firmware and when it came back all those read settings were at 65535 again which was fairly annoying. You only need to do this once; the config will stick until you factory-reset the motion sensor. So, I added my last two motion sensors a few days ago on the latest firmware and they worked straight away, light levels, motion, temperature all working perfectly so I think perhaps that older firmware was a little dodgy. https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-ota-plugin, https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin, https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-ota-plugin.git, https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin/wiki/Update-deCONZ-manually#update-in-raspbian, https://developers.meethue.com/develop/hue-api/supported-devices/#supportred-sensors. I have the same issue with this sensor. Auto activate lights with motion. With the bridge the light level is coming in Home Assistant. And if yes, what would I have to put in here? and I'm able to start deCONZ with GUI, it only has no own stick, but that should not hinder to install something, I guess. Please open another issue as your issue might be different. I might spend some more time next week - before maybe sending them back ... Well, that looks quiet good up to now. The Philips Hue Bluetooth mobile app. Then second step to bind the occupancy sensing cluster to ConBee II Configuration Tool or whatever it is. Wonder if that is why the settings were strange. Ok, that behavior fits to my observation how the outdoor sensor works. No special actions done. I always have to go to the GUI and read them manually... Probably about 4 times the size of the indoor sensor. Sure hope we can locate the firmware, so I don’t have to re-pair all my sensors to the Hue bridge to update them, see #270. So, it's pricey, lacks functionality and is too big. To do so, you will need to use a HomeKit App from a third-party developer, like the Eve for HomeKit App, which is free on the App store. Maybe a suggestion for Deconz to do these configs automatically in a future firmware version if possible? Maybe you are interested in using the Offset Profile provided by the framework to adjust the value. No need for the Hue Bridge if you don't need it. Do the values update if you read the attributes of the Illuminance Measurement cluster in the Cluster Info panel in the deCONZ GUI? https://github.com/dresden-elektronik/deconz-rest-plugin, has to look like this: at leas mum and dad will have one. I paired a Philips Hue Motion Sensor to Conbee II, it reports 1 lux in Home Assistant, 0 in Phoscon, and the same as you folks in Deconz, I bought an old Hue V1 bridge, reset both and automagically they paired to each other. Worth noting is that both of them worked flawlessly with my Hue … It's a separate plugin, don't mix REST API plugin and STD OTAU plugin sources. You can also buy the Hue Starter Kit, which includes the Bridge and a Light Dimmer to control the color and temperature of your lights, among other helpful tools. Maybe it's enough to do the binding. to your account. Successfully merging a pull request may close this issue. Currently, the highest lightlevel I'm seeing is 33819, which the REST API plugin translates to 2369 lux. Now the Lux readings appear to be working as expected but the temperature will still only update if I do a manual read of the sensor in Deconz. Hadn’t seen that firmware version yet, thanks. If the light levels don't start reporting after a few hours I'll attempt the debug steps posted earlier. It seems this issue is inactive / resolved. I'm not familiar with python developing. Bit of an update on this, I tried adding another motion sensor to deCONZ over the weekend and this one was even worse. #340 (comment). Once you have it, … It is actually high difficult to calibrate temperature. You could double-check that the sensor actually reports 0, by running deconz with --dbg-aps=2 and search the log for something like (substituting the NWK address of your sensor in srcAddr): If you see these messages with value 0x0000, the sensor is indeed reporting 0. it shouldnt be hard to get a officially calibrated thermometer somewhere. The reading never changes in HomeAssistant, nor the Phoscon web UI nor the REST API. Connect this Philips Hue motion sensor to your Philips Hue bridge (not included) to create a smart home lighting system. All three sensors are still reporting. Version 2.05.64 / 4/22/2019 Once that’s done, all Hue devices and bulbs will appear in the home app. 6.1.0.25261) which works absolutely fine in my setup.
